About Dr. Vidal
A grounded presence for life's most difficult passages
I believe that healing happens in relationship — and that the therapeutic space, when held with care, can become a place of genuine transformation.
I'm Dr. Julio R Vidal, a Licensed Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD). My work is rooted in the belief that each person carries within them the capacity for growth, even in the midst of profound difficulty.
I completed my doctoral training at Widener University's Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology (IGCP) and have worked in a range of clinical settings — community mental health, hospital-based care, and private practice — before focusing my work on the individuals and couples I see today.
My approach integrates empirically validated methods — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — within a relational and attachment-informed framework. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, grief, identity, and the complexities of intimate relationships.
I live and practice in New Jersey, offering telehealth sessions to clients throughout the state. Through PSYPACT certification, I am also able to work with clients across participating states.

Beyond the office
Outside of my clinical work, I'm a husband and father — roles that ground me and remind me daily of what truly matters. I'm an avid surfer and musician, and I find a great deal of meaning in travel and in quality time with friends and family.
My approach to therapy
Therapy, as I practice it, is a collaborative journey. I don't arrive with a fixed map of where you should go — instead, we work together to understand the patterns, histories, and meanings that shape your experience. I bring warmth, directness, and a genuine curiosity about what makes you who you are.
"The goal is not to fix what is broken, but to understand what has been — and to find, together, what might be possible."
